Yamaha, one of the leading manufacturers of two wheelers, had displayed the Ray scooter for the first time at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. The stylish scooter is a mix of pinkish purple and black colors. It received at lot of popularity at the Auto Expo as John Abrahim, one of the biggest stars of Bollywood, was seen promoting it. Now there are reports that soon the company will begin the production of this stylish scooter. According to the rumours, Yamaha was trying from a long time to make an entry into the scooter market but was not able to finalise on any model. However, if reports are to be believed, the bike maker from Japan is all geared up now to enter the scooter market with launch of the 125cc Yamaha Ray Scooter somewhere around the festive season of Diwali.

The scooter will mainly be targeting the female segment of buyers. It has a 125cc single cylinder air cooled engine. The major notable features of the scooter are its stylish design, attractive colors and a large storage area. The fact that the famous actor John Abrahim is the brand ambassador could further play a big role in increasing the popularity of the scooter amongst the young buyers. The company has still not given out any confirmed news regarding the cost of the scooter. However, it is expected to be available for a price of somewhere in the range of Rs. 45,000 to 50,000.

Further there are strong reports that Yamaha is making plans of increasing the capacity of its manufacutirn plants in India. Yamaha's manufacturing line in Surajpur has been alloted the target of achieving a production of over a million units by the end of 2012. Preparations for this have begun at this manufacturing plant, which currently has a production capacity of 6 lakh units in a year. Other than this expanding strategy, the company is also aiming to start a new manufacturing line in the southern part of the country. All these reports give an indication that the two-wheeler manufacturer from Japan is taking the Indian market very seriously and has a lot of plans in mind for the future. It would be exiting to see how these plans churn out for the company and what kind of response do they receive from the buyers.
