The Chinese minibike packs a 150cc motor
Every now and then, a Chinese two-wheeler pops up mocking an original design. This time, it’s the Zongshen 150R. Priced at CNY 9,880 (approximately Rs 1.13 lakh), this Chinese mini bike looks funky, to say the least.
One eye-catching aspect of the Zongshen 150R is its design. The halogen headlight, bright colours, and the MV Agusta Brutale-esque exhaust are sure to catch onlookers’ fancy.

It’s powered by a 150cc air-cooled motor that makes 10.6PS and 11.5Nm. Zongshen has built the engine in conjunction with Piaggio and dubbed it the PY150. For reference, the Honda Grom gets a 125cc motor that generates 10PS and 11Nm.
The Zongshen 150R is suspended on a USD fork and a rear monoshock. The braking setup consists of discs at both ends. It rolls on 18-inch alloys wrapped in 120/70 front and 170/70 rear tyres. Surprisingly, this mini bike comes with a 13-litre fuel tank.
The 150R will not make it to India. However, there is a raft of other options available here at less than Rs 1 lakh, including the TVS NTorq 125, Hero Maestro Edge 125, and Yamaha Fascino 125.
