Vida V1 Expert Review
Overview
The Vida V1 marks Hero MotoCorp’s entry into India’s competitive electric two-wheeler space. But does it have enough to make a big enough bang with its presence? Let’s take a look:
Design
The Vida V1 has a very stylish and modern design language. At first glance, it doesn’t look like a typical electric scooter, which is a big upside. The LED DRLs look very appealing and the diamond-cut alloy wheels just add to the premiumness of the scooter. The tail section, though, doesn’t compliment the stylish front-end very well. Also for a premium electric scooter, the fit and finish quality is not very good with inconsistent panel gaps and low switchgear quality.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The Vida V1 has a top speed of 80kmph, which is not blistering by any means but just about enough for city riding. But the delivery of that performance is not that exciting and if you like enthusiastic performance, then you might be disappointed with the Vida V1. That said, it has one of the smoothest throttle calibrations among EVs in India. Also, the claimed 165km range on the Vida V1 Pro is quite impressive compared to its rivals.
Handling & Ride Quality
With a kerb weight of 124kg, ground clearance of 155mm and a seat height of 780mm, the Vida V1 has really good handling dynamics. It is great for spirited riding around the corners. It feels very agile in traffic and is easy to manoeuvre in tightly-packed areas.
Comfort
The Vida V1 gets a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup, which soaks up bumps and potholes quite well. This translates to a fairly comfortable ride quality. The front disc brake and rear drum brake offers good stopping power and comes in handy during sticky situations.
Features
The Vida V1 gets an impressive list of features. It gets a 7-inch TFT instrument console with good touch functionality. The UI is very simple and effortless to use. The list of features in the electric scooter include parking assist, cruise control, four riding modes, SOS button (in case of an emergency or crash) and geo-fencing. The 26-litre underseat storage area is very practical and can easily fit a full-face helmet.
Should you buy
The Vida V1 is a decent electric scooter that has good looks, decent performance and impressive range. But for a premium scooter that commands a price tag of Rs 1,25,900 (ex-showroom Delhi including FAME 2 subsidy), its offerings are not that exciting. Still, if you are on the market for a decent electric scooter with the trust factor of a brand like Hero MotoCorp, then the Vida V1 is a good option to consider.

- V1 Pro- Should you Buy ?
Real world mileage if you run it in eco mode, won't give you 90 km in single charge, even the v2 pro model. However since I bought, I did not spend single penny on maintenance. Other negatives: Vida has not released any software update so far over ota, don't have option to change speedometer dashboard skin, most of the features won't work in app. Keyless: should have an option for key. Should have turn indicator buzzer. You have to be cautious while washing your scooter sometime switch won't work until it gets completely dried.Read More
