What is the Yamaha R15 V4 price in India?
The cheapest Yamaha R15 variant is priced at Rs 1,82,600 for the standard model, and it goes all the way to Rs 2,09,800 for the top R15M variant. Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
What is the difference between R15 V4 and R15 V4M?
Apart from the difference in colour schemes, the R15 V4M also gets a quickshifter (up-shifts only) as standard, and a full-colour TFT instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation and music controls. The standard R15 gets an LCD instrument console. You can also buy the quickshifter for Yamaha R15 as an accessory in select colour variants of the base version. The M variant’s swingarm is finished in grey whereas it’s black in the base variant. Even the indicators in the R15 M are LEDs whereas they’re bulbs in the R15 V4.
Which colour is best for R15 V4?
In our opinion, Intensity White is the best colour for R15 V4. It makes the bike look really premium while the red colour wheels add a hint of funkiness, while bringing out the sporty character of the bike.

How fast is the R15 V4? (Key specs & tested figures)
The Yamaha R15V4 is a pretty fast bike for its class. The Yamaha R15 0-100kmph pickup time is 13.25 seconds, which is impressive for a 150cc bike. It makes 18.4PS and 14.2Nm, making it the most powerful 150cc bike in India. You can cruise at 100kmph on the highway easily, and the gearbox is also tuned well-enough for riding at low speeds at higher gears. That said, you’ll still have to downshift a gear or so while overtaking on the highways.
What is R15 V4 mileage?
The Yamaha R15 V4 mileage is impressive, considering it returned 55.20kmpl in the city and 60.65kmpl on the highway in our real-world mileage tests. Do note that the bike was ridden in a relaxed manner, around 30-40kmph in the city, and about 80-90kmph on the highway. Expect at least 40kmpl average mileage for daily riding.
Is R15 V4 uncomfortable?
Since it’s a sports bike meant to be ridden fast, the Yamaha R15 V4 has clip-on handlebars that are not really raised. This along with the split seat setup will make you lean forward to reach the handlebars. As a result, it puts extra weight on your wrists, which can particularly be felt while going over bad roads. You’ll have to use your core muscles and lower back to support yourself so that there’s minimal load on the wrists, and also hold on to the bike with your thighs. The R15 V4 riding position takes time to get used to.
Is the R15 V4 suitable for tall riders?
The R15 V4 may not be suitable for riders taller than 6 feet because the rider will end up leaning more forward to reach the handlebars. The footpegs are positioned more towards the rear, higher up the bike. So it may not be comfortable for those with long legs as it tends to make you feel cramped. If you’re shorter than 6 feet, the bike should be comfortable enough, if you get used to the riding posture.
Is R15 V4 good for long rides?
The Yamaha R15 V4 has enough grunt to sustain 90-100kmph on the highway. However, being a sportsbike, its sporty riding posture is not comfortable for long rides, unless you’re used to sportsbikes. Moreover, the pillion seat is not roomy, and is positioned way too high. Hence, the passenger seat is comfortable enough only for short distance commutes.
Is the R15 a good bike for racing on track?
The Yamaha R15 V4 is a fantastic bike for racing on track. Its committed riding posture, peppy engine and brilliant handling will inspire you to push hard. The tyres offer enough grip too, so you won’t feel as intimidated while leaning through corners at high speed. All in all, the R15 is a great bike for track racing not only for beginners, but is also fun enough for experienced riders.
Can I buy the R15 as my first bike?
At 141kg kerb, the Yamaha R15 is a pretty light bike, and is easy to handle. Its performance isn’t intimidating at city speeds, but can be quite engaging when you start pushing it hard. More importantly, it’s got great brakes and tyres, so you’ll still feel in control, even at higher speeds. If you’re looking for a performance bike and don’t mind the aggressive riding posture, the R15 can be a good first bike.
What are the features of the Yamaha R15 V4?
The R15 V4 has a basic traction control system as standard, which minimises the rear wheel slippage on surfaces with low grip. The assist function in the slip-assist clutch ensures a light lever action whereas the slipper function prevents the rear wheel from locking up while downshifting rapidly. It also gets a quickshifter as standard in the M variant and optional in the standard variant, for shifting up gears without using the clutch. The instrument cluster comes with two display modes: Track and Street. The former shows the lap times whereas the latter shows details like average speed, average mileage, coolant temperature and battery voltage. It also gets a gear position indicator with a shift prompt light, a basic smartphone connectivity for call and SMS alerts. That said, none of the variants get turn-by-turn navigation. Other notable features include a projector LED headlight and dual-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). The R15M also gets turn-by-turn navigation and music controls.
Yamaha R15 best accessories with price in India
If you’re looking to buy Yamaha R15 cheapest variant, we would advise you to also buy the quickshifter as an accessory for Rs 5,875. It helps in clutchless upshifts, making the bike even more fun and engaging to ride. Since it’s a fully-faired bike, it’s also advisable to get the frame sliders from the brand, priced at Rs 1,898. These will absorb some impact in case of a fall, and reduce damage to the fairing.
Is R15 V4 worth buying?
If you’re an enthusiast who likes sports bikes and want to eventually ride superbikes, the Yamaha R15 is worth buying. It is also worth buying for those who are simply looking for an exciting 150cc bike in which they can not only have fun commutes but also learn the nuances of sporty riding.
Who are the competitors of R15 V4?
The closest competitor of the R15 V4 is the KTM RC125. It is a little more expensive than the standard R15, but offers much less performance because of its smaller engine. It is not as feature-packed as the R15 either. But if you’re willing to spend a lot more, then the next closest alternative of R15 V4 would be the KTM RC200, which offers better performance and fantastic handling.

R15 V4 Expert Review
Overview
The Yamaha R15 made performance accessible for everyone back in the day when it was first launched. Does the R15 V4 have what it takes to still make us feel the same emotions today? Let’s find out:
Design
The R15 has always been a looker and the V4 is the same. The fairing’s clean layout and the large vents make it look like a larger capacity bike, and give a premium touch as well. The fit and finish levels are good and the switchgear quality is quite good too. The silver and grey job in the M variant just complements the overall aggressive supersport design the best.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The R15 V4 can hit triple digit speeds easily and during our tests, we saw a speedo-indicated top speed of 129kmph. The power delivery is quite smooth and linear and it will happily rev upwards of 7,400rpm. This change is noticeable while riding. But if you don’t have much idea about how the R15 V3 is to ride, then it shouldn’t be a problem as the R15 V4 is still pretty fun. And with a quickshifter that works seamlessly, you’ll end up using it quite often.
Handling & Ride Quality
The Yamaha R15 has always handled very well and the addition of the upside down fork on the V4 has improved the front-end feel of the motorcycle. It changes directions easily and the bike feels agile during the corners. You can now carry greater speeds with much more confidence. The brakes, though, could have offered a better initial bite. They do their job perfectly but with an improved feel of it, the experience could have been much better.
Comfort
The dimensions of the R15 V4 are similar to that of the V3 but the clip-on handlebars have been positioned higher and angled outwards because of which you don’t have to lean forward so much to find the optimal riding position. Larger riders will feel more comfortable during long commutes. Also, the redesigned tank panels help in hugging the tank and locking one’s knees while cornering.
Features
The Yamaha R15 V4 comes equipped with an LCD instrument console and Bluetooth connectivity via the Y-Connect app that gives out call alerts, SMS & email alerts and more. The addition of turn-by-turn navigation would have made it more appealing. The bike gets two display modes: Street and Track and gets a lap timer in the Track mode. It also gets traction control that works well and doesn’t interfere with your riding. The R15M has a TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation and music controls.
Should you buy
The Yamaha R15 V4 is still a performance rocket. Compared to the previous models, it has become a bit less aggressive making it easier for larger riders to commute for longer durations. And the addition of quickshifter and traction control has increased the appeal as well. So, if you are in the market for a sporty 150cc motorcycle and want to learn and improve your riding skills, then the R15 V4 is a great starting point.
