Based on the existing Street Twin, the new Triumph Street Cup is a cafe racer with lowered handlebar, rear-set footpegs and a single seat.
Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the 2017 Street Cup at the INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany. It is a cafe racer-styled motorcycle based on the existing Street Twin. However, it gets a lowered handlebar, slightly rear-set footpegs and a single seat. As per the company, Street Cup offers “new distinctive urban sports features, including an authentic bullet seat and removable cafe racer seat cowl, racing inspired fly screen, and bar-end mirrors."
Powering the bike is the same 'high torque' liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, displacing around 900cc which also powers the Street Twin. However, the Triumph Street Cup gets new upswept exhaust mufflers. Mated to a 5-speed transmission, the motor makes 54.7PS of power and delivers a peak torque of 80Nm.
Apart from the distinctive looks and handling geometry, the bike shares most parts with its sibling, the Street Twin, including the suspension set-up and the brakes. Along with the twin-pod, digital-analog instrument cluster and LED tail lamp, the bike gets an USB charging socket as well. The company is also providing advanced electronic equipment, such as Ride-by-Wire, ABS, switchable traction control and a torque-assisted clutch. Moreover, the company will offer more than 120 optional accessories for the bike.
The Triumph Street Cup is expected to enter the market by the end of this year and it will be positioned between the Street Twin and the Bonneville T120 models. Some reports suggest that the new Triumph could make its entry in the Indian market early next year.
