Early reservers purchase window closes and another opens a day later for everyone
Ola Electric has already sold 10,000 S1 e-scooters, which technically puts it on the top spot of the high-speed e-scooter sales chart this month. Ola’s introductory price of “Rs 1 lakh minus one rupee” is certainly making the cash registers ring. It has also confirmed that deliveries for the S1 will begin from September 7.
Which brings us back to the e-scooter’s pricing strategy; the S1 is wearing an introductory price of Rs 99,999, and can be reserved for Rs 499. And it has clearly worked in Ola’s favour by drawing in 10,000 orders in 24 hours of opening the ‘early reservers’ purchase window yesterday.
On August 15, Ola introduced and put on sale the new S1 e-scooter. It borrows the same motor and almost all features from its older sibling the Ola S1 Pro but runs on a smaller battery pack. Despite that, Ola claims an ARAI range of 141km.
However, the good news is that Ola has opened one more window to purchase an S1 today, and it’s for everyone. Given the S1 is a massive Rs 40,000 cheaper than the S1 Pro variant which makes owning an Ola now that much more affordable. So fastest finger first, I guess.
