The Yamaha stall at the Auto Expo 2016 has the Nmax maxi scooter on display. As Yamaha India has not disclosed any details regarding the launch of this new offering we assume that it is being showcased to understand how Indian audiences will react to this technologically advanced scooter.
Coming to the details, this all-new Nmax is a full-size scooter which is powered by a 125cc single cylinder engine based on file saving Blue Core technology of Yamaha. We will call this new offering quite innovative as the motor powering this scooter is something never seen on a scooter in India. In fact, this engine features variable valve actuation along with a 4-valve head and offers power figures of 15.5PS and 14.4Nm that is almost equivalent to a 150cc motorcycle.
The amazing power figures are quite important for this model as it is a large scooter weighing 127kg and runs on 13-inch wheels with 110/70 tubeless tyre at the front and 130/70 tubeless tyre at the rear. Braking duties are being carried by the Disc brakes on both wheels while ABS is also offered.
Speculations are that this unique maxi scooter with a powerful engine could be seen on the roads in India if Yamaha gets positive feedback for it. However, most auto experts feel that to keep the price in the range of Rs. 80, 000, if launched in India this 155cc NMax scooter will feature simpler drivetrain.
