The Pune based auto maker- Bajaj has launched a new model in its entry-level commuter range, which has been christened as Platina 100 ES. The bike has been priced in India at Rs. 44,507 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and claims to return an impressive mileage of upto 96.9kmpl. It gets a new DTS-i engine along with some alterations in the body work.

In the first look, the 2015 Bajaj Platina 100 ES seems almost similar to the older Platina 100, and the credit goes to the similar fuel tank. However, there are lots of cosmetic changes including a redesigned headlight, bikini fairing, twin-pod console, side and rear panels, rear grab rail and seat.

The new Platina 100 ES houses a new 102cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve, DTS-i engine with ExhausTEC, which comes mated to a 4-speed, all down-shift gearbox. Using a carburetor type fuel system, the new motor makes 8.1bhp of maximum power at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 8.6Nm at 5,000rpm.

Bolted on a single downtube frame, Bajaj Platina 100 ES comes with telescopic front forks and SNS hydraulic suspensions at the rear. The bike has got 17” alloys with 2.75” wide front and 3.00” wide rear tyres. Both the front and rear wheels have been equipped with 110mm drum type braking units, which are sufficient to control the 108 kg weighing motorcycle. It has an 11.5-liter fuel tank and comes with both kick and electric starting system.

2015 Bajaj Platina 100 ES has been positioned against Hero HF-Deluxe, TVS Star City Plus, Honda Dream Neo and other motorcycles within the price bracket of Rs. 42,000-45,000.
