Triumph’s modern classic bike range is set to get another member. Around a week ago, documents published for Triumph’s range of 2017 revealed that the Street Twin’s 900cc heart would make its way into two more bikes. Recipient number one is the new Bonneville T100 that has already been spied and the T120’s baby brother is going to be joined by the bike you see in the image below – the Triumph Street Cup!
Spotted public road testing in the United Kingdom, the Street Cup is essentially a sporty version of the Street Twin. The bike embodies what the Thruxton brings to the table. By sharing parts such as the headlight and humped seat, Triumph will offer the 900cc Street Twin with a more aggressive stance, adding another café racer to the British bike maker’s line-up, without spending too much for its development.
This bike will share its chassis with the Street Twin and will most likely be a replacement for the 865cc Thruxton that is still on sale. Like the Street Twin, the 900cc engine in the cup will make 68PS of power, which is 13PS less than what the previous generation Bonneville made, but the same motor also makes 80 Nm of torque i.e. 12Nm more than the old engine.
At this year’s Delhi Auto Expo, Triumph expanded its range with the introduction of the Street Twin, Bonneville T120 and Thruxton R. We expect the Street Cup to hit the Indian market early next year, along with the new Bonneville T100. Incidentally, a Bonneville Bobber was also spotted earlier this year and it will be interesting to see if this model will make its way to our shores.
