Triumph will also be adding more models to their 400cc lineup
Triumph will be launching a new motorcycle later this year, according to Bajaj Auto’s Rajiv Bajaj. We believe the upcoming bike is likely to be the Triumph Thruxton 400, a cafe racer style motorcycle that was spotted testing a few months ago. Rajiv Bajaj also said that they will be introducing a new Triumph motorcycle each year for the next 3 years. We might get to see a Triumph Speedmaster 400 or even a Triumph Tiger 400, but it's too soon to say right now.
The Triumph Thruxton 400 will be a cafe racer style motorcycle and the 3rd offering in the 400cc segment. It’ll get typical cafe racer style design, with new frame-mounted half-fairings and clip-on handlebars, making for a sportier riding position. The headlight is a round unit similar to what we have seen on the Triumph Speed 400.
The bike is expected to come with the same underpinnings as the Speed 400. It will be built on the same frame and suspended on a 43mm inverted fork and a gas-charged preload adjustable monoshock. The braking setup is likely to be unchanged as well, with a 300mm frontand 230mm rear disc.
The Thruxton 400 will feature the same 399cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Speed 400 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X. It makes 40PS at 8000 rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500 rpm. Other features include, ride-by-wire throttle and a slip and assist clutch.
We expect the Thruxton to come at a similar price as the Scrambler 400 X, so roughly around the Rs 2.62 lakh mark (ex-showroom). Before the launch the cafe racer will likely be unveiled at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy.
The Thruxton doesn’t have any direct competitors in its segment and the only other alternatives available in the market will be the smaller capacity Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and the higher capacity Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.
