If you’ve booked yourself a brand new Suzuki Gixxer, then here’s something that might cheer you up. Deliveries for the entry-level naked motorcycle have begun and most of the cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata have no waiting period. The Japanese bike maker had launched the all-new Gixxer a few days back and at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the 2019 variant is Rs 11,271 more expensive than the previous-gen motorcycle.
The 2019 Gixxer gets an all-new design language and some new features as well. It gets an all-LED headlamp and a digital instrument cluster, which have been carried over from its fully faired variant, the Gixxer SF. Apart from this, the other notable changes that the 2019 Gixxer are the split seats and a rear tyre hugger.
The 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled motor is the same as seen on the 2019 Gixxer SF. This engine belts out 14.1PS at 8,000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6,000rpm, and is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The frame is suspended on a 41mm telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at either ends, with single-channel ABS offered as a standard fitment.
In terms of competition, the 2019 Gixxer goes up against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ FI Version 3.0 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
