2020 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V: What To Expect

From new features to an updated engine, here’s what’s new in the 2020 Apache RTR 200 4V

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V will soon get a major makeover and a price bump of around Rs 12,000 over the standard variant, which retails at Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from a new BS6-compliant engine, the 2020 iteration will get a couple of other updates as well. These range from small cosmetics changes to new segment-first features. So here’s all you need to know about the 2020 Apache RTR 200 4V. 

New look? Well, sort off:

While most of the panels will be carried over from the current-gen model, the 2020 Apache RTR 200 4V will get a new LED headlamp, making it look more aggressive than before. Expect TVS to throw in some new paint options as well. Currently, buyers have only two options to choose from - black and white. 

An all-new digital cluster with segment-first features! 

The 2020 Apache RTR 200 4V will come equipped with a new digital instrument cluster with TVS’ SmartXonnect system. Just like the NTorq 125, this system can be paired to your phone to display features such as turn-by-turn navigation, caller ID, SMS notification, last parked location and ride statistics to name a few. What’s more interesting is that it will also display the bike’s lean angle, G-force, gear distribution and Tour Mode. We expect TVS to equip the upcoming motorcycle with a basic Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to calculate the necessary data. 

BS6-compliant engine:

The new Apache RTR 200 4V will get a BS6-compliant engine featuring fuel-injection. So expect it to have a slightly different power output compared to the current one. The 197.75cc motor in its current state of tune belts out 21PS of power and 18.1Nm of torque. We also expect TVS to introduce a 6-speed transmission instead of the current 5-speed gearbox, which should increase the bike’s highway potential. 

Same underpinnings as before:

It is highly unlikely that TVS will change the cycle parts of the new Apache RTR 200 4V. It will continue to use the same telescopic fork and a KYB-tuned monoshock setup as seen on the current-gen model. The braking hardware will also remain the same as the current variant - disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard.
