The 2021 model year features a new KRT colour scheme, but it’s not as green as before
Kawasaki has made big changes to some of its 650cc models as part of their BS6 updates, giving the Ninja 650 and Z650 a fresh new look as well as more features. For the 2021 model year, Kawasaki has now also made some tweaks to the hardcore Ninja ZX-6R, but they’re a little more subtle.
For next year, the bike gets a new colour scheme. It’s not just any colour scheme, Kawasaki has updated the race-y looking KRT (Kawasaki Racing Team) colour option. The previous KRT option was dominated by green and black shades, but for the next model year, the 6R sports some white and a splash of red.
The belly pan gets the white treatment along with a small red portion, and there’s even a long red stripe running all the way from the front of the fairing right to the tail section. We think the new scheme looks great and can’t wait to see it in person.
As far as this colour option coming to India is concerned, unfortunately we don't think this will happen. The ZX-6R is not yet Euro 5 or BS6-compliant and we don't expect it to be updated to meet the stricter norms either. With the 600cc supersport class dying a slow but certain death, it would not make fiscal sense for Kawasaki to update this bike to BS6 and sell it at an even higher price. But you never know, Kawasaki may just surprise us.
