The new bike could launch as early as February 2021

[UPDATE: KTM has launched the 2021 RC 125 and RC 200 in India from Rs 1.82 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. For more details about availability, specifications and other details, read this story]

  • Features completely revised styling.
  • Gets new split trellis frame.
  • Could get the LCD console from the 250 Adventure.

This year, KTM gave a fresh lease of life to the 200 Duke and the 125 Duke, doing away with the almost decade old design. Now, the Austrian brand is gearing up to give the RC lineup a major overhaul. This will be the first big update for KTM's supersport lineup. The next-generation KTM RC was already spied testing a couple of times in Europe, however, a new picture has surfaced of the 2021 RC 200 from Bajaj's Chakan plant, hinting that the bike is almost ready for its debut.

The first biggest update is the new styling. The new bike gets a completely new fascia, with a halogen lamp taken from the KTM 200 Duke. Surrounding the headlight is the new bigger windshield, and LED indicators, replacing the mirror-mounted units on the current model. The overall design of the front loosely resembles the RC8.

The 2021 KTM RC 200 also gets updated floating fairing that extends all the way to the bottom and an updated livery. Another change seen on the model is the new alloy wheel design and disc brake mount. While the current model has the disc mounted on the wheel hub, the new model will have mounts on the alloy itself, giving it a cleaner look.

Like the KTM Duke lineup, the new RC 200 too will now benefit from the new split trellis frame. Going by the spy pictures, the bike will now feature a conventional split seat. The clip-on handlebars too seem to be more easy-going rather than the low, aggressively positioned ones on the current model.

The RC 390 spied abroad sported a TFT instrument console, and it is likely that the RC 200 might get the LCD unit, similar to what we have seen on the newly-launched KTM 250 Adventure.

The new bike looks noticeably bigger than the current model, and could also sport a bigger tank than the existing 9.5 litre unit.

The 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor churning 25PS and 19.2Nm is likely to remain the unchanged, however, given that the additional bulk the updates could bring, the power delivery could be slightly different.
The 2020 RC 200 is priced at Rs 2.01 lakh (ex-showroom), and we expect the new bike to demand a premium of around  Rs 10,000 over the current model. KTM had hiked the prices of its models earlier this month, except for the RC 200, which could possibly be to clear the current stock. The new bike could launch as early as February 2021 in India.
