2021 Suzuki Hayabusa

One of the most highly anticipated motorcycles of 2021 is undoubtedly the new Suzuki Hayabusa. After the Japanese brand teased the bike last week ahead of its official debut on February 5, it’s been tough for Suzuki to keep things under wraps. However, we are now just a few hours away from the official debut. Here’s what the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa could offer:

An Overhauled Design
There’s not much left to be seen now. The leaked photo and video pretty much showcased the entire motorcycle, save for some details. Suzuki has managed to retain the bulbous silhouette of the Busa, yet made it somewhat chiselled and modern. From the new LED headlights with LED DRLs (that are likely to be the indicators as well) to the split tail light, every bit of the bike seems to have been redone. What would be interesting to see is the new slats that sit behind the floating fairing. It is likely that they could be the integrated winglets.

Electronic Aids
The Busa has always been a bike that was meant to last, and Suzuki achieved that by keeping electronic intrusion to the minimum. However, with the competition getting feistier, the Busa too will now come equipped with a full IMU-based electronic suite. We already know that the bike will get cornering ABS and traction control (likely to be multi-level), wheelie control and SDMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector). The Busa will be equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter as well, however, it may not be offered as a standard equipment.

A Bigger Engine
Ever since the news of the 2021 Hayabusa’s development surfaced online, there have been speculations that the brand could use a 1400cc engine or even forced induction to comply with the emission norms and reclaim its throne as the fastest motorcycle. In fact, not so long ago, patent filings showed that Suzuki is working on a new exhaust system for an inline-four cylinder motor that could possibly debut with the new Busa.

Underpinnings
With the heavy updation on the engine and the bodywork, the chassis is expected to be updated as well. A lighter chassis could help Suzuki shave off some bulk from the behemoth’s 270kg kerb weight. As for the suspension, the bike could feature top-of-the-line equipment and probably semi-active rear suspension too. As for the brakes, it would only be fair to expect Brembo Stylema for the new Busa.

Pricing And Availability
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa could grace our shores by the second half of 2021. As for the pricing, expect the new Busa to carry a tag of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 22 lakh, since the bike may first arrive as a CBU model. However, given how well the CKD strategy has worked for the bike so far, Suzuki may eventually start assembling the bike here.

The Busa goes up against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, which too has been discontinued globally. In terms of pricing, it could be pitched close to the likes of the BMW S 1000 RR and the Ducati Panigale V4.
