Here are the pluses and minuses in store if you decide on getting the updated RTR 160 4V
After dumbing down the performance for BS6 last year, TVS has refreshed the Apache RTR 160 4V with a new engine tune. It has always been a lovable bike and now it seems even more potent than the 2020 iteration. Here are its pros and cons:
PROS
Zesty Performance
It was pretty shocking to find out just how much of a difference 1.6PS and 0.6Nm can make. Compared to the older motorcycle, the RTR 160 4V is over four seconds quicker in the sprint to 100kmph. TVS has managed to find all of this extra performance higher in the rev range. It has now got a zing in its step that somewhat went missing on the 2020 model.

Comfy Ride
Besides the new engine tune, the RTR 160 4V remains unchanged. Hence, expect the same plush ride as before. It glides over the rough, uneven stuff as a heavily padded seat prevents any shocks being transmitted back to the rider.
CONS
Spongy Brakes
The missing piece of the jigsaw, when will TVS solve this? We have loved every single bit of the RTR 160 4V, except its brakes. They continue to lack ferocity, feedback and a bit of progression. They do not shed speed as rapidly as one would want to.
Should You Buy It?
Heck yes. The Apache RTR 160 4V has been the benchmark in the 160cc class and this revision was a much needed one to ward away any potential threat. It is light, frugal and more importantly, is once again quite an exciting bike to ride.
