Yamaha has unveiled the 2021 R3 in Japan. It wears a price tag of 6,87,500 yen (approximately Rs 4.88 lakh). The only update Yamaha has given the 2021 R3 is three new colours: Deep Purplish Blue Metallic, Cyan Metallic and Matte Dark Grey. These colour schemes are quite vibrant, particularly, Cyan with red painted wheels.
Since no mechanical changes have been made, the 2021 Yamaha R3 gets the same liquid-cooled, 321cc parallel-twin engine. It makes 42PS of power and 23Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The 2021 R3 continues with the same telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The bike is anchored by a 298mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS as standard. The 2021 Yamaha R3’s feature list includes a digital instrument cluster, LED headlamp, and tail light unit. The fuel tank capacity remains the same, at 14 litres.
The 2021 Yamaha R3 isn’t Euro 5-compliant yet. If Yamaha introduces a cleaner version of the 2021 R3, the brand will likely launch the bike in India as well. We reckon Yamaha will launch the 2021 R3 in India by mid-2021 if things go as planned. It will go up against the KTM RC 390 and TVS Apache RR 310, the only BS6 supersports in the segment
