The new livery has been introduced for the Malaysian market
In a bid to keep the YZF-R15 V3 looking fresh, Yamaha has introduced a new colour for the bike for 2021. The striking new silver livery is only available for the Malaysian market at the moment, at no extra cost. It’s priced at RM11,988, equivalent to Rs 2.18 lakh here. The R15 V3 sold in India is available in four colours: Red, Blue, Grey, and Dark Knight.
The new silver colour inspired by the Yamaha R6 features grey strips running across the fairings with simple graphics and fluorescent yellow wheels. It’s by far one of the best looking options in our opinion, after Racing Blue. Apart from the new colour, though, the bike remains cosmetically and mechanically unchanged.
The bike uses the same VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) equipped 155cc liquid-cooled engine but it makes a bit more power and torque compared to the India-spec model. It does so since the R-15 sold there doesn’t need to comply with the strict emission laws. As a result, its output figures stand at 19.3PS and 14.7Nm -- 07PS and 0.6Nm more than the R15 sold in India.

The differences don’t end there. The Malaysian-spec R15 gets a premium USD fork -- something we’ve been aching to see on the model here. The rest of the bike is pretty much the same.
We won’t be surprised if Yamaha brings the new silver colour to India eventually. The bold livery would surely attract younger buyers and help boost sales. Expect a minor premium, if any at all, if Yamaha brings the silver colour to India.
