This Honda scooter looks a lot like the Yamaha Facino 125
Honda has launched the 2022 iteration of its neo-retro scooter, the Genio, in Indonesia. The scooter gets major updates to its design, features and more, and is priced at Indonesian Rupiah 18,050,000 (around Rs 93,000).
First off, the Honda Genio looks a bit like the Yamaha Fascino 125, with its neo retro styling and flowy design. Even with the retro look, it manages to flaunt a slight sporty appeal with the fascia-mounted LED headlight set-up. On the side panels, sharp lines run across the body of the scooter complemented with edgy graphics, giving the scooter a sportier appeal. As compared to the older generations of the Genio, the updated model looks stunning and more attractive.
Powering the Genio is Honda’s 110cc SOHC eSP (enhanced Smart Power) engine producing 8.9PS and 9.3Nm, pretty decent numbers for its segment. For perspective, the Honda Activa 6G produces 7.79PS and 8.79Nm. It also gets the Honda ISS (Idling Stop System) that turns the engine off automatically at an idle state, and turns it back on when the throttle is twisted– this tech along with the PGM-FI injection combustion system would make the scooter more fuel efficient.

Underpinning the Genio is Honda’s new eSAF ( Enhanced Smart Architecture Frame ) platform. The scooter is suspended on a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a disc up front and a drum set up at the rear with CBS (Combi Braking System).
On the features front, the Genio comes packed with a digital instrument cluster, USB charging socket, side stand engine cut-off, parking brake lock and a 14litre under seat storage, making it a moderately feature-packed scooter.
The 2022 Honda Genio will not be heading to our shores any time soon, but you can check out similar options available in India like the TVS Jupiter (Rs 66,998 onwards), Honda Activa 6G (Rs 70,599 onwards) and Hero Pleasure Plus (Rs 62,220 onwards).
