Kawasaki launched the 2022 Ninja 300 at a stratospheric price of Rs 3,37,000 (ex-showroom India). Head here to read more about it. If the pricing has put you off, worry not! We have several similarly priced alternatives that you could go for:
1) Royal Enfield Interceptor 650: Rs 2.85-3.10 lakh
This twin from Royal Enfield undercuts the Ninja 300 by a massive Rs 27,000-52,000 depending on the colour variant you get. Not only is it less expensive, but it also offers a massive 8.65PS bump in power, and a colossal 26Nm of extra torque, not to mention give you a proper big-bike experience. . If torquey, retro-styled motorcycles are your thing, you should definitely consider the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
2) Royal Enfield Continental GT 650: Rs 3.02-3.26 lakh
The second parallel twin bike from Royal Enfield too, undercuts the Ninja 300 by Rs 11,000-35,000, depending on the variant you buy. The main difference between it and the Interceptor 650 is the ergonomic setup. The GT gets clip-on handlebars, slightly rearset footpegs and a smaller fuel tank of 12.5-litres against the Interceptor’s 13.7-litre, carved for tucking your knees in during more aggressive riding. Its price tag makes it by far the most affordable cafe racer in the country. So if you’re looking for a bike that has the retro charm with a bit of sporty intent to have fun up the twisties, you should have a look at the Continental GT 650.
3) KTM RC 390: Rs 2,77,635
Sure, at Rs 2.77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the price of the KTM RC 390 is nowhere near the Ninja 300’s ballpark. But the fact is that it belongs to the same segment as the Ninja 300 and in fact offers much better performance. Its 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled heart produces 4.5PS and almost 10Nm more than the Ninja. It also gets better kit including a LCD instrument cluster, projector headlights, LED tail light and indicators, ride-by-wire and more. And if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can wait a little more for the 2022 KTM RC 390, which will come with a whole list of aesthetic, performance and practical updates.
4) KTM 390 Adventure: Rs 3,28,443
This ADV from team orange undercuts the 2022 Ninja 300 by about Rs 10,000. Along with the saved moolah, you get a more powerful engine, a lot more features and the practicality of an ADV, which boosts its credentials over long journeys. If you intend to spend long hours in the saddle, you should definitely have a look at the KTM 390 Adventure.
5) BMW 310 GS: Rs 3,05,00
One of the most affordable bikes from BMW, the 310 GS is about Rs 32,000 less expensive than the Ninja 300. For this, the 310 GS gets 5PS less, but 2Nm more than the Ninja. In its latest avatar, the GS’ has become a lot smoother, has improved brakes and a revised suspension setup, making it a sweet deal.
