The homologation documents of the next-gen KTM RC 390 have surfaced online, hinting at an imminent launch
The homologation documents of the 2022 KTM RC 390 have surfaced online. Expect KTM to launch the motorcycle early next month. The 2022 RC 390 was unveiled in August 2021, along with the 2022 KTM RC 125 and the 2022 KTM RC 200.
The next-gen RC 390 comes with a major overhaul over its predecessor. The bodywork has been redesigned to accommodate a KTM Duke-like LED headlight. The reworked fairing offers better ventilation, and the bike also gets 10mm height-adjustable clip-on handlebars. It also comes with a bigger 13.7-litre fuel tank for better range.
More importantly, the bike’s underpinnings department sees a major revision. The international-spec bike comes with a WP Apex inverted fork adjustable for compression and rebound, whereas the rear employs a WP Apex monoshock with preload and rebound adjustment. That said, the India-spec version may not get adjustable suspension to keep the costs in check. The 2022 RC 390 also features lighter wheels and new front and rear discs with cornering ABS.

The 373.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine has been tuned for better breathing, and it produces 1Nm more, at 37Nm. The peak power remains the same as before at 43.5PS, but the engine is enhanced with segment-first cornering traction control and Quickshifter +, (KTM’s lingo for a bidirectional quickshifter). KTM has also equipped the bike with a new TFT console with smartphone connectivity.
Expect KTM to price the 2022 RC 390 at around Rs 2.9 lakh (ex-showroom), considering the current-gen model costs Rs 2.77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will go directly against the Kawasaki Ninja 300, and will also be a more powerful alternative to the TVS Apache RR 310.
