Here are a few similarly priced alternatives for those who aren’t entirely sold on the new KTM RC 390

KTM finally launched the updated RC 390 supersport in India which, despite receiving a comprehensive set of upgrades, comes with a hefty premium of Rs 36,287 over the outgoing bike. The 2022 KTM RC 390 is now priced at Rs 3,13,922 (ex-showroom Delhi), and here are five options that you could look at which cost around the same:

1) Kawasaki Ninja 300 - Rs 3,37,000

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is a direct competitor to the new RC 390, and is now very closely priced to the Austrian supersport as well. This Japanese sports bike features a 299cc parallel twin, churning out 39PS and 26.1Nm. Although it is priced Rs 23,078 higher than its Austrian counterpart, you get a refined proven Japanese motor for this premium, which is a good bargain.

2) Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 - Rs 3,05,624

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 provides an authentic cafe racer experience that no motorcycle in its price range can match. Priced Rs 8,298 lower than the new RC 390, this bike is powered by a 648cc parallel twin engine developing 47.6PS and 52Nm torque. Both the bikes have an aggressive riding position. However, the GT650 is a tad bit less taxing. And considering the performance this bike offers, that too for a lower asking price, it is a good alternative to the new RC 390.

3) KTM 390 Duke - Rs 2,94,082

Next up is the RC 390’s cousin, the 390 Duke. Both share a lot of components like the drivetrain and electronics. However, the Duke is very versatile, and can be used for commuting, touring and on track. And considering the Duke is priced a whopping Rs 19,840 lower than its supersport sibling, it is a worthy option to consider.

4) BMW G 310 GS - Rs 3,05,000

If a sports bike is not your cup of tea, and you’re more of an adventure junkie, then the BMW G 310 GS should be right for you. Priced Rs 8,922 lower than the RC 390, this bike has the capability of mastering any terrain with ease, and comes with the prestigious BMW badge.

5) Honda CB300R - Rs 2,77,000

Last, but definitely not the least, comes the Honda CB300R. Priced Rs 36,922 lower than the new RC 390, this bike is powered by a 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that churns out 31.1PS and 27.5Nm. With a kerb weight of only 146 kg compared to the RC 390’s 172 kg, this neo-retro bike is a bliss to handle, especially in traffic. Featuring a trellis frame sprung on a Showa 41mm USD fork and a rear monoshock, this bike makes for good value for money.
