Your pocket guide to all the variants with some rather long-drawn-out names
TVS stumped everyone with the launch of the 2022 Apache RTR 160 4V. The bike has received some significant updates in its latest avatar, and that should bump up the value-for-money quotient. It’s offered in as many as four variants.
All of them are powered by a 159.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine (with an oil cooler) that makes 17.55PS/14.73Nm in Sport mode and 15.64PS/14.14Nm in Urban/Rain mode. Yes, the Apache RTR 160 4V too gets riding modes as standard across all variants now. Moreover, there’s a new headlight design where the low/high beam can function simultaneously.
But what separates the four variants? Here’s the explanation
Front disc, rear drum
Priced at Rs 1,15,265 (ex-showroom Delhi), this is the most affordable variant of the 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. It gets a 270mm petal disc up front and a 130mm rear drum, while missing out on the rear disc, rear radial tyre, and the TVS SmartXConnect system. Its suspension setup remains the same.

Front and rear disc, with rear radial tyre
Stretch your budget by Rs 2,085, and you can get the bike with 270mm front and 200mm rear discs and a rear radial tyre. This retails for Rs 1,17,350 (ex-showroom Delhi). Apart from better stopping power (thanks to the dual-disc setup), the bike also benefits from the stronger sidewall of the radial tyre as compared to that of the conventional tyre in the base variant.
Front and rear disc with rear radial tyre, and smartphone connectivity
For Rs 2,700 more, you can opt for the 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V with all that the second variant offers plus the TVS SmartXConnect. This retails for Rs 1,20,050 (ex-showroom Delhi). For that extra dough, you get Bluetooth-compatible turn-by-turn navigation.
Special Edition
Last but not least, for Rs 1,21,372 (ex-showroom Delhi), you get the Special Edition of the 2022 Apache RTR 160 4V. The bike is draped in matte black and gets red alloys, making for a perfect contrast to the overall stealthy look. Furthermore, the Special Edition model gets adjustable clutch/brake levers and a black-and-red seat cover with an embroidered ‘TVS’ logo.....
