To be held between 5-9 February 2016 in Greater Noida, the Auto Expo 2016 is expected to be bigger and better than its previous episodes. While most of the leading two-wheeler companies will take part in the show, some of the companies like Bajaj, Harley-Davidson and Royal Enfield have decided to miss the country’s biggest motor show. Here’s a list of 5 most awaited motorcycles to be showcased during 2016 Auto Expo.
TVS-BMW G310
The alliance of TVS and BMW Motorrad to bring sub 500cc motorcycles began two years back and G310 will be the first product to come out for sale. The production version of the motorcycle has already been displayed earlier this year and might make its debut in Auto Expo. Developed in Munich by BMW Motorrad, this naked sportbike will be developed in India at TVS Motor Company’s Bengaluru plant. The bike features an all-new 313cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine.
Hero Motocorp HX250R
First unveiled at 2014 Auto Expo, we can expect the production ready version to be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo. This quarter litre motorcycle is powered by 249cc, single cylinder engine, which is coupled with 6-speed gearbox and expected to produce 31bhp of power and 26Nm of torque. Hero Motocorp has developed this motorcycle with the help of Erik Buell Racing (EBR) and if the company’s claims to be believed, the upcoming Hero motorcycle will be able to reach 100kmph of the mark in less than 8 seconds having a top speed of 160kmph.
UM Renegade Cruiser Range
Other highly anticipated models that may be showcased at the Auto Expo are the UM Renegade Cruiser Range. US-based two-wheeler manufacturer, UM Renegade is planning to launch three cruiser motorcycles in Auto Expo 2016. Earlier this year, the company has signed a joint venture with Lohia Auto to bring affordable cruisers and entry-level sportbikes. Under the agreement, a new company called UML Motors has been formed with 50-50 partnership. The company is expected to introduce - Renegade Commando, Renegade Classic and Renegade Sport. All the motorcycles will be manufactured at Lohia auto’s facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand.
TVS Apache 200
In August this year, TVS Motors reported that it is working on to bring two new products by the end of this fiscal year. We are expecting that the company might be thinking to showcase the new TVS Victor and TVS Apache RTR 200. If rumours are to be believed, the Indian manufacturer will launch Apache RTR 200 anytime soon, but we expect the bike might arrive at the Auto Expo. Taken its design inspiration from ‘Draken’ concept, Apache RTR 200 will come equipped with 200cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine. It is amongst the most awaited launches of 2016.
Benelli Tornado 302
Fifth and the last model in the list is Benelli Tornado 302. Benelli is trying hard to increase its presence in Indian two-wheeler market and launch of Tornado 302 will take its growth further. The company is already selling TNT 300 in the market and expected to bring fully faired version in 2016 Auto Expo. The bike will share most of the features with TNT 300. The bike is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs. 3 lac and will rival against KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha YZF-R3 when launched. This 300cc machine from Benelli is powered by the same 2-cylinder engine of TNT300 that generates 38bhp and 26.5Nm. Earlier, the company introduced its smallest displacement and only single cylinder motorcycle, Benelli TNT25.
