From roadsters to supersports, the market is replete with value-for-money propositions
This year has been an exciting one for motorcycle enthusiasts, with manufacturers bringing some highly anticipated and even a few unexpected offerings to the market. If you want a bike for Diwali (but don’t want a gaping hole in your pockets), here are our top five picks that will cost you under Rs 2 lakh:
Yamaha YZF-R15 V4
Yamaha’s baby supersport has been a massive success in India, and the V4 has made its global debut right from our market. The Yamaha R15 V4 comes with a new (and more) aerodynamic design, traction control, a quickshifter, and a USD fork (finally!). And with a price tag starting from just Rs 1.67 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it is too good a bike to not consider. We have already thoroughly tested the top-of-the-line R15M, and before you head to the showroom, you might want to check out its real-world performance.
2021 KTM RC 200
After multiple spy shots and test mules, KTM has finally launched the 2021 RC 200 at just Rs 115 over the outgoing model. The Austrian supersport now gets an all-new design, a new chassis, an updated instrument console, and a bigger fuel tank, while having the same kerb weight. Too tempting, isn’t it? We have already ridden the bike on the race track, and our first ride review will give you a taste of how potent the new bike is.
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Riding modes, adjustable suspension, riding modes, and span-adjustable levers -- too good to be true for a 200cc bike, right? Well, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has got it all. Additionally, features like smartphone connectivity and navigation, along with Glide Through Traffic (GTT), make commutes all the more fun. At Rs 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom), the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a tempting proposition. Our road test review of the bike should help you take the call.
Bajaj Pulsar F250
After over a decade, Bajaj has finally built the spiritual successor to the ageing Pulsar 220F. The Bajaj Pulsar F250 uses a brand-new 249.77cc air- and oil-cooled engine developing 24.5PS and 21.5Nm. It is built on an all-new platform and is the first Pulsar to come with a slipper clutch. Not bad for a bike that costs Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom), right? How does it ride? Stay tuned for our review that drops tomorrow.
Jawa 42 2.1
Jawa updated the Forty-Two with a few new bits and bobs for the top-spec Jawa 42 2.1. But it’s not just the new alloy wheels, bar-end mirrors, or the all-black theme that make it special. Jawa has improved the bike’s fit and finish as well. The 42 2.1 was the first bike to come equipped with Jawa’s improved engine. But should you really splurge Rs 1.83 lakh (ex-showroom) for this classic roadster? Check out our first ride review before you take the call.
