Triumph’s big bruiser, the Rocket III, was one of the wildest, maddest motorcycles in the world. Its massive 2.3-litre inline-triple engine was the world’s largest in a production motorcycle. Heck, the engines sheer size even trumps a majority of the cars sold in India! Sadly, due to ever-tightening emission norms, the motorcycle needed a complete overhaul as the older engine didn’t quite cut it. That’s where the new Rocket III, which was spotted testing last week, comes in. Triumph has now unveiled the Rocket TFC Concept, which previews the upcoming motorcycle. If you’re wondering, TFC stands for Triumph Factory Custom. And as the name suggests, the motorcycle is loaded to the brim with delectable accessories.

Though Triumph calls it a concept, the motorcycle looks almost production-ready. Speaking of which, the British manufacturer is currently gearing up to launch the production version of the Rocket III TFC on May 1! Sadly, it will be limited to just 750 units worldwide. On the same day, Triumph will also reveal the details of the production bike.
The concept motorcycle comes with a lot of carbon-fibre bits like a flyscreen, front fender, tank trim, exhaust headers and heel protectors. The instrument cluster is the second-gen TFT display that you also find on the Scrambler 1200. It gets Bluetooth and a world-first GoPro connectivity option.
The fancy bits aside, the concept gives us a fair idea of what the production model is likely to pack. The chassis is all-new and there’s a new 2.5-litre inline-triple liquid-cooled motor nestling inside. It is said to produce a mind-numbing 182PS of power and 230Nm of torque! These figures make it the world’s most powerful production motorcycle ever. Interestingly, all that power and torque is transferred to the rear wheel via a single-sided swingarm with shaft drive. Surely, some clever engineering must’ve gone through for such a setup. The TFC edition even packs a 3-1-3 exhaust from Arrow.
The front end features adjustable inverted forks and a monoshock at the rear. For braking, it employs Brembo radial calipers and dual discs up front and a Brembo two-piston caliper at the rear. The alloy wheels are all-new and are shod with fat Avon Cobra rubber. When launched, this power cruiser will go up against the new Ducati Diavel 1260. Expect Triumph to launch the production version of the Rocket III at the EICMA show in late-2019.
