The fourth edition of India Bike Week is going to be held on February 19-20, 2016 at Vagator in Goa. This year, the event is expected to include new additions along with some of the old favourites. Organized by 70 EMG (Event Company) and lifestyle television channel FOX Life, this time, it is expected to host more than 12,000 biking enthusiasts from all over the world, including riding clubs and solo riders. In addition to new events, the 2016 IBW will also witness older events such as Finals of Custom Bike Build Off 2016, International Bike Expo and Vintage & Classic Bike Concours which are now considered traditions of the event.
For the first time in the history of IBW, there will be an event called Hard Enduro event. This segment is designed to test man and machine to their limit and the winner will be awarded a trophy as well as a cash prize of Rs. 75,000. Another new event will be IBW Main Street, which will provide a runway for riders to flaunt and parade their rides. The street will be lined with bars and tents along with DJ booths. Organisers have described IBW as ‘India’s Rio Carnival’ for bikers.
This time around, the event will also witness its first ever film festival. It will feature travel films from different parts of the globe focusing on riders, their bikes, and their journeys. The showcased movies will be classified in three competitive categories:
- Heels on Wheels - Highlighting Women Bikers
- Milestories - Travel & Adventure films beyond biking experience
- Two Wheeler Talkies - Based on the passion for motorcycles and a love for the roads
Winner of each category will get a cash prize. On the other hand, everyday adventure movie makers will get a chance to participate in a separate segment on short ride videos. The categories for the same will be:
- Ride my Pride - Focusing on Biking Clubs and their rides
- My Ride Video - Short videos focusing on great solo rides
Entries of the videos will be updated on IBW website and winners will be awarded a GoPro camera.
Apart from this, the event will also feature a collection of motorcycle-inspired art on display at the Moto Art Collective. The participants will be able to see customised riding gear by designer and rider Arjun Khanna, live pinstriping, projects from the country’s most creative bike builders, airbrushed helmets and moto-photography by Vikram Bawa and Ronnie Sequeira.
To motivate riders to get their bikes and ride to the festival, organizers have come up with ‘Migration to Goa’ which allows interested riders to be a part of the group of bikers around the country. These groups will be joined by the marshals who will guide the group for their ride to Goa.
The fourth edition of IBW will also comprise other returning events including National Stunt Championship and Bikini Bike Wash.
