This could be one of the most spine-tingling rumor for Indian bikers, or to be direct, for those who craze after off-roading! Last year, BVR Subbu, ex-Tata and Hyundai veteran announced plans for Altius Scimitar 670 setting feet in India. One look at the bike, and you are sure to be left awe-struck! This is the same bike as used by US Army, which is supplied by Hayes Diversified Technologies (HDT). At HDT, the diesel engines make love to Kawasaki KLR650 chassis, the love child being a bike made tough enough to go anywhere in the world … any terrain it could win. The bike’s already sashaying in your head? Relax, this project is quite lost in the oblivion. After such a long hiatus, the name has again ambushed back.

Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel

It has been seen at Honda dealership (point to be noted) Chennai. To keep the news unwrapped, the bike standing there was justified by saying that the dealer, Kun Honda, was also associated helping diesel engine mobikes in the Indian market in association with Subbu. However, what could bring some breather away from these hiding-the-news statements, is that the model that was spotted was brand new. To make the off-roader win over the remote locations, the bike has been made extremely simple. The engine of Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel uses quite low technology. To stress on the simplicity, it is worth a mention that the engine neither has a turbocharger nor the common and modern rail direct injection system. To survive the rigorous off-roading, the engine in clothed by a tough steel frame.

Roaring at 33 bhp power and a torque of 53 Nm, the bike, if at all it comes to India, will poach the whole market! With 5-speed manual transmission, top speed rating to 152 kmph, and a brisk acceleration at a sub 10 second sprint to 100 kmph, the machine is surely a head banger. To make it all the more gawking, Altius bets a fuel economy of 45 kmpl at a static speed of 90 kmph. All that a bikers mind would be able to think of after a dekko at this mean monster is impressive, saucy, raunchy, poignant! This is exactly what an Indian motorcycle tourer would ever need. With everything about the bike giving so “made-for-India” feel, remains the hard question, when do we get to rap with this piece! Bang!
