The innovative American motorcycle maker- United Motors (UM) is ready to enter in the rapidly growing Indian two wheeler market with its advanced products. The company is going to launch its motorcycles at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The motorcycle brand has been registered with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office by its founders in the early 2000's. UM motorcycles are designed in the U.S and are distributed in over 20 different countries ranging from Latin America, Africa and Asia. UM International LLC is the Parent Company of UM Motorcycles and has grown to become a multinational organization. It’s Headquarters are located in Miami, FL, USA.
Vision: Since the early days of the UM brand, its founders realized that without innovation the brand would not accomplish the Company’s vision of making the motorcycle a central element in the life of its customers, it would simply remain as a transportation tool no different from other brands. The UM brand has its in-house design team and works with world-class design houses and designers to achieve its goal: to create an aspirational motorcycle affordable for all.
Products: Sport, Scooters, Cruisers and Dual Purpose motorcycles, ranging from 100cc to 250cc.
Innovative Features: The UM Engineer and Design Team is obsessed with making motorcycles more stylish while increasing the safety and convenience for the rider. Many of these innovations can only be found in high end cars, but UM’s UM® has been able to integrate them into the UM Motorcycles. Some of UM’s Key Innovations are:
CASH (Communication Awareness System Helmet): A helmet with integrated stop and turn signals that communicates wirelessly with the UM® Motorcycle (via Bluetooth technology) allowing the rider, through an integrated control switch located in the handlebar, to answer calls but also turns helmet stop and turning signals simultaneously with the motorcycle stops and turn signals.
KAS (Keyless Alarm System):This system recognizes the presence of the UM motorbike owner within 1.2 meters of the bike and energizes the bike automatically. Bike can then be started without using a key. When stopped and rider walks away, system turns off power to the bike and activates an alarm equipped with a motion sensor. When system is in By-Pass mode, the remote can turn the alarm on or off, up to 300 meters away, including a search function when trying to locate the bike. Inside the remote, there is a mechanical key that can be removed and used when the owner deactivates the KAS and wants to use the bike in a normal mode.
LED 360°: A visual safety system that allows rider to be seen at night from all angles.
LED Logos: Cool UM®LED logos gives the motorcycle distinction and class.
DST (Delivery System Trailer): The folded trailer can easily be carried inside the UM user’s home for storage. When installed on the bike, it acts as a backrest in the folded position. It unfolds and becomes a single wheel trailer behind the bike, allowing transportation of small packages without compromising motorcycle handling. The handles can open up, and the trailer unlatches to become a single wheel delivery dolly kart, making it a perfect door-to-door delivery tool.
SAM with USB (System of Auto Maintenance with USB Charger): A system integrated in the motorcycle’s digital speedometer that alerts the rider when its time to service its motorcycle, suggests riding modes to save fuel amongst other cool features such as background changing color and USB charger that allows charging your phone, GPS, MP3 player among others.
Comfort Gel Seats: Gel-ergonomic seats that make long riding more comfortable by reducing pressure points.
AFS (Anti Flat Sealant): The anti flat system is a special sealant developed to seal punctures in tubeless and most tube type tires, of all objects, from nails, screws, glass etc. The sealant also acts as a tire balancer, and does not harm the rim. It helps the rider save on costly tire repairs through out the life of the tire, but specially reduces the risks of a flat tire while riding or being stranded in a remote or unsafe area.
BSM (Blind Spot Mirrors): Rear view mirrors have a built in section on the outer corner with a blind spot mirror, allowing the rider to see vehicles coming up behind him in that dangerous blind area.
ABSM:The ABSM complements the BSM system with laser sensors mounted in the rear turn signals, that transmit the presence of an object in the blind zone to the ABSM box. The box lights a red LED in the mirror of the same side of the object, alerting the rider to pay attention and look in the BSM section of the mirror for that object or vehicle. Additional to this added safety, the ABSM equipped mirror also replicates the turn signal on the front side of the mirror through a bright orange LED, giving added awareness of the rider's intentions to turn to oncoming traffic.
