The Aprilia RSV4 1100 features MotoGP-like carbon-fibre aero winglets

  • Both bikes use the same 1078cc V4 engine tuned to put out different power outputs.
  • The RSV4 1100 Factory and Tuono 1100 RR come packed with a bunch of electronics and top-spec components.
  • Both bikes comply with Euro 4 emissions.
  • Will be available for a limited time period.

Piaggio has revealed the prices of its flagship supersport, the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, and the litre-class naked streetfighter, the Aprilia Tuono 1100 RR. The former is priced at Rs 22.42 lakh while the latter gets a sticker price of Rs 17.96 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, both bikes are available as Euro 4 models and will be available on order basis for a limited time period.

The reason for concern here is that the RSV4 1100 Factory and Tuono 1100 RR will take around 45 days to be shipped and registered, which brings them alarmingly close to the BS6 April 2020 deadline. What this basically means is that any delay in shipment could create problems in the bikes’ registration process. We have reached out to the folks at Aprilia for more clarity but are yet to hear from them. Nonetheless, we’ll be sure to update you once we do.

What makes the RSV4 1100 Factory so special is the fact that it gets a retuned 1078cc V4 engine sourced from the Tuono 1100. It puts out 217PS of power and 122Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission.

In terms of electronics, the bike features traction control, wheelie control, launch control, cruise control, a quickshifter and three engine maps: Track, Sport and Race. More importantly, the RSV4 gets MotoGP-style winglets on its fairing, which creates downforce and keeps the front wheel glued to the tarmac under acceleration. A titanium Akrapovi? exhaust is part of the standard equipment.

The Tuono 1100 RR, on the other hand, employs the same 1077cc V4 engine but produces 175PS at 11,000rpm and 121Nm at 9000rpm. It gets a complete APRC System (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), which includes traction, wheelie and launch control along with three power maps.

As for the RSV4 1100 RF’s hardware, it features top-spec, fully-adjustable suspension from Ohlins at both ends, as well as an Ohlins steering damper. Braking is handled by Brembo Stylema monobloc radially mounted callipers mated to twin 330mm discs up front and a single rear disc.

The Streetfighter comes equipped with a Sachs suspension setup, while its braking is handled by Brembo M50 calipers mated to twin 330mm discs up front and a 220mm disc at the rear.
