Ather 450X, 450 Plus, And 450 Get Free Connectivity Upgrade

The Ather Connect Pro subscription pack will be free from November 15, 2021 to May 15, 2022

• Apart from free connectivity, Ather will also be rebuilding the UI and offering new features in the coming months.
• The scheme is applicable to both new and existing Ather electric scooter owners.
• Those with active subscription will get the amount refunded on a pro-rata basis.

Of late, Ather Energy has been actively involved in increasing awareness about electric vehicles with new initiatives. In August this year, the company announced the sharing of its proprietary charging connector and infrastructure with other EV makers. And now, Ather has announced a free connectivity upgrade for new and existing owners of the Ather 450X, Ather 450 Plus, and Ather 450.

The Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer will be offering a free Ather Connect Pro connectivity subscription scheme to owners from November 15, 2021, to May 15, 2022. Normally, this costs Rs 700 per quarter or Rs 2,400 per year (both excluding GST). While the Ather Connect Lite scheme offers only onboard navigation and Over-The-Air (OTA) dashboard improvements, the Pro scheme comes with ride statistics on the Ather app, remote location tracking, remote charge monitoring, and push location from the Ather app (in addition to the features as part of the Ather Connect Lite scheme). 

If you already have an ongoing Lite or Pro subscription scheme, you’ll be glad to know that Ather will be reimbursing the fee proportionately. The company says it will take a couple of weeks for the refund system to come into effect, and that the customers will be informed once the process starts.

Commenting about the initiative, Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy tweeted, “Connectivity and EVs go hand in hand: something we have believed in from day 1. With the market growing at an unprecedented pace we are opening connectivity features on ALL  (@)atherenergy scooters free of cost for the next 6 months for our owners.”

The company will also be offering new features, including a redesigned User Interface (UI) in the coming months. Tarun tweeted, “We have an ambitious plan of making the entire mobility exp hassle free with Ather Connect - stitching everything from route planning, navigation, charging, servicing, & customization. Expect several changes as we improve quality, rebuild the UI and launch several new features.”

This is a great move by Ather, considering the company gives ample time to properly experience the intangible benefits of the new features. It will also encourage owners to pay and continue the connectivity subscription after the free window ends. Last month, Ather released a new OTA update offering theft and tow detection. The company also plans to set up 500 charging stations across the country in the coming months.
