The seat won’t be a XL or XXL, it will be a XXXXXL!

(Update: Ather Energy has launched the all-new Ather Rizta family scooter. Check out the details in our launch story here.)

Ather Rizta Family Electric Scooter Teased

Ather Energy has done something out of the ordinary, teasing its upcoming Ather Rizta family scooter on billboards, showcasing its large seat. The billboards were placed in Worli, Mumbai and Shivranjini Circle, Ahmedabad, and emphasised the so-called “XXXXXL size” of the seat via a 3D replica.

This unconventional teaser comes after the official launch date for the upcoming e-scooter was announced by Ather recently, which is slated to take place on April 6, 2024, as part of Ather’s community day.

Ather Rizta's seat compared with two other leading scooters

Before this, Ather CEO, Tarun Mehta had dropped a similar teaser that tried to bring focus to the Rizta’s large seat, but in that one he directly compared the Rizta’s seat to that of a leading petrol-powered scooter and an electric scooter.

The Ather Rizta is designed to be a family electric scooter and marks a departure from the performance-oriented scooters that Ather has been known for, like the Ather 450X and Ather 450S. The Rizta comes with a typical family scooter, boxy styling, and apron-mounted headlight and indicators. Other design bits include what appears to be a large floorboard, big seat, and a chunky pillion grab rail.

The e-scooter is expected to come with a similar battery and performance as the Ather 450S, which is a 2.9kWh battery pack with a certified range of 115km. Ather might also launch a larger battery pack version of the scooter so they can target customers looking for budget deals and also others who want to get the top-of-the-line variants.

We expect the Rizta to come at a price of Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom including FAME 2 subsidy). After its launch in April, it will go up against the TVS iQube, Hero Vida V1 Pro and Bajaj Chetak.
