The Austrian bike maker KTM has launched its light-weight flagship bike Duke 200 street fighter in Philippines recently. The motorcycle has been built at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan manufacturing plant at Pune. Bajaj is manufacturing and exporting the KTM Duke 200 and 125 in many countries, and also started manufacturing of the Duke 390 recently. KTM has tagged the Duke 200 with 195,000 Philippine Pesos, which is equal to Rs. 2.61 lakhs, which is exactly double of its price in India, this is due to import and export duties. KTM Duke 200 price in Indian market is the least in the world, due to the heavy amount of localization and local production of the Duke 200 in India.
The Duke 200 is powered by a 200cc liquid cooled, four valve-DOHC engine, which produces the peak power output of 25bhp with the peak torque of 19Nm. This engine comes mated to a 6 speed gearbox, which is the secret of its explosive power delivery and a throaty growl that is very distinctive to KTM motorcycles. KTM Duke 200's on-paper power figures also deliver in the real world as the Duke 200 weighs just 136 kilograms, which returns an awesome power to weight ratio. The bike not also features stunning looks and powerful engine, but it also features top-notch hardware for improved braking and handling. The bike comes with WP upside down front forks with monoshock unit for the rear suspension.
Bajaj Auto manufactures two other KTM motorcycles in India, which are the Duke 125 and the Duke 390. The all three bike share the parts and features heavy localised content. The 2013 Duke 390 is the latest in these three bikes, which was first unveiled at the 2012 EICMA Motorcycle Show recently and has already been launched in countries like Italy and the United Kingdom. The KTM Duke 390 is also expected to launch in the Indian market as well. The bike is said to be launched in March, 2013. We are expecting it to boast a very affordable price tag of Rs. 1.50 lakh for the Non ABS model.
