Bajaj Granted ExhausTEC Patent in China

The Chinese State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) granted Bajaj Auto patent rights for its invention "ExhausTEC" by Patent no. ZL 200580025898.7 dated April 14, 2010. The unique invention named "ExhausTEC" significantly improves low range / mid range torque in a single cylinder four stroke engine, employing a chamber of predetermined volume attached to the exhaust pipe. Bajaj has employed this innovation on its motorcycles since August 2004 in various models. Bajaj’s patented DTS-i twin spark technology and ExhausTEC together deliver unbeatable fuel efficiency and performance combination to the customers. This technology has been commercialised in popular Avenger, Pulsar, Discover and Platina range of motorcycles marketed extensively world-wide. Besides China, Bajaj has secured patent in India, Europe, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Bangladesh, Costa Rica, Iran and Malaysia. Chronology: August 6, 2004 : Bajaj files ExhausTEC patent application in India August 3, 2005 : Bajaj files PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) application with China as one of the designated jurisdictions April 14, 2010 : SIPO grants patent after conducting several rounds of examination. Grant of the patent arms Bajaj Auto with rights to seek legal remedy against infringements, if any.
