Bajaj Auto is working in collaboration with the KTM power sports to manufacture an all new range of motorbikes. The two companies are taking their partnership forward with the introduction of a new motorbike that will feature a higher capacity engine as compared to its previous editions. The latest of the KTM bikes to have released include the KTM Duke 200 and the KTM Duke. The new bike should see the light of day in the next two years. The plan for the companies, namely Bajaj and KTM, is not confined to India, but are looking to create an array of products for the European markets as well. The mentioned progress is taking place at Bajaj Auto's research and development centre at Akurdi, Pune.
Both the parties, including KTM and Bajaj, with their engineers are working to great depths in order to release India's second highest capacity bike in in terms of engine power. If they do pull it off, they will be second only to the Royal Enfields. These 375 cc bikes would also come with a twin-cylinder engine. Another reputed bike manufacturing company, Royal Enfied is also working on the similar lines to develop a twin-cylinder vehicle. KTM would be the first company to have developed the twin-cylinder engine in the country itself.
If and when the vehicle does happen, the engine is estimated to produce a 35 to 38 BHP power and 30 Nm torque. This is now becoming a trend with all the bike manufacturing companies to develop a more powerful bike with Bajaj also planing to release a Pulsar 375 using an identical engine. But there are other companies who have already planned to go even bigger like the CBR400 as planned by Honda. Yamaha is also not staying behind with their plans to introduce R4.
