Just like the Pulsar 150 ABS, the 220F is also likely to sport a single-channel unit to keep costs in check
Bajaj’s long-standing touring-friendly Pulsar, the 220F, has been spotted testing with ABS. Apart from the safety feature, the motorcycle also sports an engine cowl and ‘Twin Disc’ sticker on the front fender, along with mild graphic updates. The spied image comes soon after the Pulsar 150 rear disc variant was spotted testing with ABS.
The ABS sensor ring is visible in the front disc and it is expected that the motorcycle will sport a single-channel ABS instead of the dual channel one. When launched, the bike is likely to carry a premium of around Rs 8,000 over the current motorcycle’s price of Rs 96,448 (ex-Delhi).
Apart from ABS and minor visual updates, expect the powertrain and underpinnings to remain the same. The 220cc DTS-i air-cooled engine with oil cooler churns out 20.93PS of power at 8500rpm and 18.55Nm of torque at 7000rpm. Brakes are likely to be the same 260mm front and 230mm rear disc. The bike rides on telescopic front forks and twin Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear.
With ABS, the Pulsar 220F would lock horns with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS. The sporty motorcycle from TVS costs Rs 1,10,805, and has a dual-channel ABS with rear wheel lift off protection too. The Pulsar also rivals the Yamaha FZ25 (Rs 1,19,335) and Hero Karizma ZMR (Rs 1,08,000, all prices ex-showroom Delhi). However, both the bikes lack ABS as of now. Expect Bajaj to launch the motorcycle in the coming festive season.
