The new FI variant is likely to carry a premium of around Rs 6,000 over the carb variant

  • Bajaj currently sells the Pulsar NS200 FI in Colombia.
  • The Colombia-spec Pulsar NS200 FI gets new decals.
  • New variant could help the 200cc Pulsar become BS6-compliant.

With new emission norms set to kick in from April next year, two-wheeler manufacturers are currently in the process of updating their models’ engine and hardware. Now, we’ve learnt that Bajaj is planning to launch a fuel-injected variant of the Pulsar NS200 in India in the coming months.

It is highly unlikely that Bajaj will give the Pulsar NS200 FI a major design overhaul. Expect it to get the same paint schemes like the current model. However, the upcoming variant could get new ‘FI’ decals as seen on the model sold in Colombia where the decals are available in two colours - neon green and blue.

The NS200 is powered by a 199.5cc liquid-cooled motor. Where the Colombian model produces 24.13PS and 18.6Nm, the India-spec bike makes 23.5PS and 18.3Nm. However, we expect the fuel-injected variant to be BS6-ready.

Currently, the carb variant retails in India at Rs 1.12 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the FI variant to carry a premium of around Rs 6000. In terms of rivals, it will go up against the Hero Xtreme 200R (carb) and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V (FI).
