The new variant could come with more features
Bajaj Auto recently launched the Pulsar NS400Z in India at an introductory price of Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom) and if you’re wondering about the Z in NS400Z, it indicates that there could be more variants of the Pulsar NS400 incoming. And in a recent interview, Rajiv Bajaj talked about the same.
In the interview Rajiv Bajaj said, "I can guarantee there will always be a better Pulsar” and also added that “...there is still a lot of technology that we can bring to bear on the Pulsar without it necessarily becoming bigger...”. This could likely indicate that the brand is working on launching a new variant of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 with more features, instead of increasing the engine capacity.
As of now, NS400Z comes with a fully LCD console. The console gets smartphone connectivity and features turn-by-turn navigation as well. So as an upgrade, we expect the upcoming variant to get a full TFT console.
He also stated that “we must have the humility to accept that people are not going to pay for a Pulsar of what they pay for a KTM or Triumph”. This means that Bajaj isn’t currently planning on bringing bigger capacity Pulsars to the market as of now.
So it’s likely that the NS400 will still be powered by the same 373.3cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine which produces 40PS and 35Nm. Bajaj could likely add in a quickshifter which the NS400Z lacks.
Lastly, in terms of underpinnings it could even come with a radial tyre at the front as well, since it has a radial tyre only at the rear as of now.
With the addition of these changes, the new variant of the Pulsar NS400 will likely be a more premium offering which will be more competitive when compared to bikes in the same segment like the TVS Apache RTR 310, KTM Duke 390 and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.
We expect the new variant to command a premium of around Rs 12,000 over the Z variant, which currently comes at an introductory price of Rs 1,85,000. While this price will likely go up in the near future. The new variant could be launched by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
