Apart from a greener engine, the Pulsar RS200 BS6 remains unchanged
Yesterday Bajaj had officially launched the Pulsar 220F BS6, Pulsar 180F BS6, Avenger 160 Street and Avenger 220 Street. Today along with the Dominar 400 BS6, it has launched the Pulsar RS200 BS6. The new motorcycle is priced at Rs 1,44,966 (ex-showroom, Delhi) a premium of Rs 3,033 over its BS4 predecessor. This is a small premium as apart from a greener motor, the Pulsar RS200 BS6 remains similar to the BS4 Pulsar RS200.
While the BS4 Pulsar RS200 already had a fuel-injected motor, the updated motorcycle gets a catalytic converter to clear the stringent BS6 norms. Interestingly, while most BS6 motorcycles offer less performance than their BS4 counterparts, the updated Pulsar RS200’s BS6 compliant 200cc liquid-cooled motor makes slightly more torque (0.1Nm) more than the BS4 motor. Power output remains the same though. The updated numbers are 24.5PS at 9750rpm and 18.7Nm 8000rpm. However, kerb weight has increased by 2kg so that would negate the slight gain in performance.
The Pulsar RS200 BS6 remains cosmetically unchanged when compared to its BS4 predecessor. It even comes in the same 3 two-tone colour schemes as before -- Graphite Black, Racing Red and Racing Blue. Features include twin projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamp, LED turn indicators and a semi-digital instrument console.
Even the underpinnings are identical to the BS4 Pulsar RS 200. They include a perimeter frame, telescopic forks and gas-charged monoshock. Braking is via a 300mm front disc and 230mm rear disc with single-channel ABS. Fuel tank capacity remains the same 13-litres as does the 157mm ground clearance.
Bajaj will soon launch the Pulsar NS200 and Pulsar NS160 BS6 which would make the entire Pulsar range BS6-compliant.
