The Dominar, which was until now available in a non-ABS version as well, has been taken off Bajaj’s website
- Bajaj removes the non-ABS version of the Dominar from its website.
- The removal signifies that Bajaj no longer intends to sell the non-ABS Dominar in the Indian market.
- The move is also in-line with the April, 2019 govt. deadline for converting all non-ABS models into ABS equipped ones.
Bajaj has quietly withdrawn the non-ABS variant of the Dominar 400 from its website. Called the Dominar 400 STD, this variant was similar to the Dominar 400 ABS in all respects, save for an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The STD version was priced at Rs 1.42 lakh while the ABS model carries a price tag of Rs 1.63 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
In spite of the substantial price difference, the ABS version of the Dominar 400 consistently outsold the non-ABS version. Moreover, the new regulations state that all existing motorcycles need to be equipped with ABS come April 2019. These factors may have led to Bajaj removing the Dominar 400 STD model from its website.
This comes in the backdrop of multiple spy shots of a Dominar 400 featuring USD forks, a new belly pan and what could possibly be a DOHC engine configuration. The updated Dominar 400 is expected to launch sometime in 2019.
The Dominar 400 ABS features a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 35PS of power and 35Nm of torque. It also offers a full LED headlamp and tubeless tyres.
