Bajaj to launch a new high capacity motorcycle this year

Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj Auto is gearing up to launch a new high capacity motorcycle later this year. Sources in the company have said that the next motorcycle will be a big bike, bigger than anything currently on offer from Bajaj. If the reports hold true, then Bajaj might introduce the much-awaited Pulsar CS400 later this year. If launched, the CS400 will be a major step up for Bajaj and will open them up to a whole new market.

The CS400 made its first world premiere at the 2014 Auto Expo, where it was showcased as a concept model. The bike shares its underpinnings with the KTM Duke 390. The concept shown had many neat features and some cool looking design elements but it will be interesting to see if Bajaj can manage to retain these elements in the production model.

Powering the CS400 will be a 373.4cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine with a fuel injection system. Rumours have it that the engine has been tweaked to produce a power output close to 40bhp.

If our sources are right, Bajaj is all set to take the big jump into the premium motorcycle segment and compete with the Austrian automaker - KTM. Presently, KTM is dominating the premium segment as an affordable performance machine, But if Bajaj plan to take over this segment, they’ll have to work on the pricing of the CS400 and make sure that it’s as economical as their Austrian competition.
