Benelli Plans to Sell 4,000 Superbikes Across India

Italian manufacturer Benelli is looking forward to making its footprint stronger in India’s growing market for superbikes. The company is planning to double the strength of its outlets and aims to sell 4,000 bikes in current fiscal.

The company is marketing premium bikes through DSK Motowheels in the country. DSK Motowheels is also planning to expand its product portfolio by launching a 250cc bike by December this year which will be 30 percent cheaper than the 300cc model.
As Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman DSK Motowheels said, "We are targeting to sell 4,000 superbikes in 2015-16. The market for superbikes in India is growing at a phenomenal pace of 50 percent per annum. We expect the market size for superbikes (price range starts from Rs 2.50 lakh a unit) will go up to 15,000 units in current fiscal as people in India like to have quality and premium product”.
Benelli is planning to expand its network to open 14 more outlets across the country at places like Goa, Surat, Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Nagpur and by the end of this year, they will probably have total 25 outlets.
Presently, the company has five models of superbike ranging from Rs 2.99 lac (300cc engine) to Rs 11.81 lac (1130 cc) and also looking forward to launching a 1400cc bike in India which may take 2-3 years. The company’s main focus is to open dealerships across all strategic locations in order to generate strong brand eminence. These bikes are brought to India via CKD route and assembled here at CKD plant of DSK Motowheels situated in Maharashtra.
