TVS Radeon
TVS’ newest offering, the TVS Radeon, is a 110cc commuter motorcycle that’s targeted towards the masses. Although the overall styling maybe minimal and practical, the manufacturer has furnished the Radeon with a couple of features that's second to none in its segment. It gets a twin-pod instrument console that looks pretty basic but gets an ‘Eco’ and ‘Power’ indicator, a side-stand indicator and a USB port conveniently placed beside the instrument console. The Radeon is equipped with halogen headlamp with LED DRLs and a conventional looking tail light.
The gold painted engine casing, knee pads on the tank, and the textured seat add a touch of premiumness to the motorcycle. Additionally, the TVS Radeon also gets Synchronized Braking Technology and 18-inch alloy wheels. Soaking in undulations are telescopic forks up front and a twin shock absorber setup with 5-step adjustability at the rear.
Honda CB Hornet 160R
It’s safe to say that Honda pretty much changed its ideology of a commuter motorcycle with the introduction of the CB Hornet 160R. Its sharp and muscular design paired with chunky tyres became an instant hit amongst youngsters looking to upgrade from a scooter. The Hornet’s list of features include an all-LED headlight, a hazard indicator (a segment-first) along with a full-digital instrument console and an LED tail light. The Honda Hornet 160R is also offered with single-channel ABS as an option.
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
The TVS RTR 200 4V gets even sportier with the Race Edition 2.0 which gets features like a flyscreen and an anti-reverse (A-RT) torque slipper clutch (a segment-first). In terms of design, the bike gets an aggressive looking headlight with LED DRLs inspired by snake fangs. Other highlights include an LED tail lights, clip-on handlebars, an offset fuel cap and a fully-digital instrument cluster. The feature-rich console displays readouts such as lap timer, top speed and acceleration recorder, and a gear position indicator.
Other technical aspects of the bike include ram-air assist, which TVS claims decreases engine heat by 10 degrees Celsius, race-tuned KYB suspension at the front and rear and sticky Pirelli tyres (optional).
Yamaha R15 V3.0
The third-gen Yamaha R15’s race-oriented design maybe a little too serious for most people, but it makes for one heck of a proposition for serious riders who can’t stretch their budget too much. The R15 V3 manages to blend the precision of the first-gen R15 and the performance from the second-gen only to take it up a notch. Inspired by the YZF-R6, the R15 V3’s sharp styling and true blue Yamaha livery look nothing short for breathtaking.
New features include split LED headlights and an all-digital instrument console that displays real-time fuel consumption, a clock, a rev-limiter and a gear position indicator. The rear section of the new R15 V3 bears an uncanny resemblance to its elder sibling, the YZF-R1.
The Japanese manufacturer has also reworked the motor to provide better low-end grunt and top-end performance with the help of Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). Its 155cc motor is mated to a 6-speed transmission aided by a slipper-clutch.
KTM 390 Duke
Last but not the least is the significantly revised 2017 KTM 390 Duke which feels like a toned down version of its beastly cousin, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. The KTM 390 Duke redefined its segment by offering a ton of features without burning a hole in your pocket. It gets a split LED headlight, LED tail light and its chief feature - a coloured TFT display. Riders can sync their phone with the instrument console via the KTM MY RIDE app, allowing them to control music playback and attend or reject incoming calls/messages via the menu switches integrated into the left-hand side of the handlebar controls.
Additional equipment comes in the form adjustable clutch and brake levers, hand guards, ride-by-wire, slipper clutch and a three-stage Bosch ABS unit.
