The F 850 GS twins are now affordable by up to Rs 2.15 lakh!

BMW Motorrad has launched its three adventure motorcycles: the F 850 GS Pro which retails at Rs 12.5 lakh, the F 850 GS Adventure Pro which sport a sticker of Rs 13.25 lakh and the F 900 XR Pro which is priced at Rs 12.30 lakh (all prices ex-showroom pan-India). The three bikes arrive as CBU (Completely Built-up Units). While the bookings for these have commenced, deliveries are slated to begin in June 2022.

The BMW F 850 GS twins return to the Indian market after a hiatus of two years. Interestingly, the F 850 GS is now Rs 45,000 more affordable while the F 850 GS Adventure is an astounding Rs 2.15 lakh cheaper than before. So, has BMW cut down on any features to make these bikes lighter on the pocket?

Quite the opposite, actually. The Bavarian manufacturer has equipped the F 850 GS and F 850 GS Adventure with a bunch of new standard features which were previously optional extras. This includes dynamic traction control, cruise control, ABS Pro, automatic stability control, quickshifter and cruise control.

Both the bikes continue to be powered by the same 853cc parallel-twin mill that belts out 95PS and 92Nm. Even the braking and suspension equipment on the F 850 GS twins remain unchanged.

However, the F 900 XR is now Rs 80,000 more expensive than before. But for all that price premium, BMW is arming the bike with the Dynamic ESA (semi-active suspension), keyless ignition and centre stand as standard as part of its Comfort package. There’s also Headlight Pro, Daytime Riding Lights and Gear Shift Assist Pro as part of the Dynamic Package. The Active Package includes Riding Modes Pro, Dynamic Engine Brake Control (MSR), Heated Grips, Dynamic Traction Control, ABS Pro and pannier mounts.

The BMW F 900 XR Pro replaces the standard variant which was on sale in India. It continues with its 895cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor developing 105PS and 92Nm. There are no changes to its hardware either.

With its new pricing, BMW Motorrad has not only made its adventure bikes more tempting, but now threatens the Ducati Multistrada 950 S, Triumph’s Tiger 850 Sport (Rs 11.95 lakh) and the Tiger 900 lineup (Rs 13.70 lakh onwards).
