The F 900 R and XR will be officially launched tomorrow
Yesterday, we brought you news about the official launch date for a couple of BMW Motorrad bikes: the F 900 R and F 900 XR. And what do you know, the day is nearly upon us already: the two new models will be launched tomorrow! Once here, they will be the Bavarian manufacturer’s first BS6 bikes, with the BS6-updated G 310 twins expected to follow suit soon after.
The 900s are based on the 853cc parallel-twin motor that powers the F 750 GS and F 850 GS. In this case, the engine has been bored out to displace 895cc and now produces 105PS and 92Nm. This places the F 900 R naked roadster on fairly weak footing compared to competition like the 123PS Triumph Street Triple RS and 125PS Kawasaki Z900. But it delivers a healthy dose of torque; and this being a twin, it should come in nice and early, creating a very usable package.
The F 900 XR, meanwhile, is a street-oriented adventure tourer. More of a sports tourer in ADV clothing actually, with its 17-inch alloy wheel and road-biased tyres. Both bikes made their debut at EICMA last year and offer the option of electrically adjustable rear suspension, which should be available on a Pro variant in India. As for pricing, we expect BMW to place these models in the Rs 12 lakh to 14 lakh window, thanks to the fact that they are manufactured in China.
