The motorcycle brand of the German auto giant BMW, i.e. BMW Motorrad is all geared up to launch its 2013 F700GS in India. The company, which is rather selective about the models it sells in the Indian market, launched the 2012 edition of the BMW F650GS in April this year. But the F700GS will now soon be seen replacing the F650GS in India. A direct successor of the 2012 F650GS, the 2013 F700GS is an out-and-out dual purpose, on-off road motorcycle. It houses an improved engine and shorter gear transmission ratio, which will deliver a better driving experience with its top-class handling. To be more specific, this upcoming BMW motorbike has borrowed the engine from the F650GS and runs on a 798cc parallel twin four-stroke powertrain that can deliver a power of 75bhp, and a torque of 76 Nm.
It features a six-speed manual transmission system, which drives the motor through a chain. The all-rounder performance of the 2013 F700GS is further enhanced with standard safety features like the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and optional features like the Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA), and Automatic Stability Control (ASC). Its lightweight and reduced seat height also gives it superb handling and manoeuvring abilities.
Moving on to the design, it shows that the German giant sincerely worked on the motorbike's masculine appearance. To support this stance is the new windshield, huge dials, smoke-tinted turn indicators, and the LED rear light among other interesting add-ons. But since this versatile masterpiece will be imported as CBUs (Completely Built Units), it is expected to cost around Rs 10 lakh.
