The Indo-German joint venture between TVS & BMW has helped in the creation of TVS-BMW G 310 R which is most likely to be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo. The bike will be manufactured at the TVS production facility in Bengaluru, India while it has been engineered at the BMW facility in Munich, Germany. The smallest displacement motorcycle by BMW was unveiled two months ago and has created a good amount of hype since then.
BMW G 310 R comes powered by an all-new 313cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that has been linked to a six-speed gearbox. The motor produces a maximum power of 33.6bhp at 9,000rpm with a peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm. With this, BMW claims a top speed of 145kmph and a fuel economy of 30kmpl, which is quite decent, seeing the category it falls in.
Talking of design, the BMW G 310 R looks like a tough street fighter that flaunts the statement "Look ma, no side-panels”. The suspension duties are carried out by inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking is done by dual disc brakes and the Indian version is expected to get ABS, at least as an option. The fully digital instrument console displays information in plenty and comprises of speedometer, tachometer, odometer, gear position display, average fuel, average speed, remaining fuel, etc.
The bike is expected to be priced under Rs. 2 lac and is slated to be launched in the country by mid-2016. BMW G 310 R will be available in three colour options viz. black and white, metallic blue and a paid white base colour. According to some rumours, BMW is also bringing a faired motorcycle that has been built on the same G 310 R platform. Once launched, the machine will directly rival with KTM 390 Duke and Mahindra Mojo in its segment. Stay tuned for more updates!
