Following the footsteps of the current S 1000 RR, HP4 and the S 1000 R roadster, BMW Motorrad has unveiled the fourth inline four-cylinder engine powered member, the new BMW S 1000 XR, to the line-up. Another model to get an update is the new BMW F 800 R.
The S 1000 XR will be serving purpose as a high powered ‘sport adventure’ motorcycle with two riding modes to adapt to road conditions. The power output is 160bhp at 11,000rpm and a peak torque of 112Nm at 9,250rpm. The S 1000 XR gets BMW Motorrad ABS as standard fitment, but customers may opt for the even advanced ABS Pro for enhanced safety when braking while banking.
The F 800 R on the other hand gets more power pushed out from its twin cylinder engine. The power output now stands at 90bhp at 8,000rpm, which is 3bhp from the previous model, and peak torque produced is similar at 86Nm at 5,800rpm. The shorter gearing on the first 2 gears enables the new F 800 R to sprint quicker and provide instantaneous responses while reducing fuel consumption. The front suspension is now an upside-down fork which works with a hydraulically operated double-disc brake with radial brake callipers for fade free braking. The seat height has now also been reduced 10mm and now sits at 790mm than the predecessors 800mm for comfort.
