BMW Motorrad’s GS-lineup is known for its capability and has had a cult following among moto-adventure seekers worldwide. So it is a given that BMW will be constantly upgrading their range by revising their existing bikes as well as looking into other segments to find inspiration. The three upcoming models are examples of that trend.
BMW G310GS
The G310GS is the is the enduro version of the G310R – BMW’s entry-level motorcycle. While the underpinnings are borrowed from the G310R, the G310GS follows the GS design language with the familiar beak, windscreen and the sump guard, elements that scream GS design. The ride height has been increased while the suspension gets more travel and dual-purpose tyres to go with it. The 313cc liquid cooled single will probably remain in the same state of tune and make 34Ps at 9500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7500rpm.
Urban GS
The Urban GS is the production version of the BMW ‘Lac Rose concept’. It is based on the R nineT and inspired by the original GS – the R80G/S. It will be the fifth addition to BMW’s ‘Heritage R nineT’ line-up which includes the R nineT and its variants – Scrambler, Pure and Racer. While the bike is based on the R nineT platform with its 112Ps, oil-cooled boxer-twin motor it gets early 1980s R80G/S enduro styling and BMW’s ‘Motorsport’ livery.
Updated R1200GS
The R1200GS was recently updated and the new change has more to do with compliance to the Euro 4 regulations. So while we can expect subtle design changes, the focus is towards technical changes in engine and drivetrain to make it ready for Euro 4 norms.
While these models will be shown at EICMA, the G310RGS and updated R1200GS might come to India by 2017.
