BMW plans to enter into Indian two-wheeler market

German based luxury car manufacturer, BMW is now going to enter into Indian two-wheeler market with the launch of new bikes in India. The company is getting overwhelming response in the luxury car market. After the huge success in the auto car market, the company is all set to launch new bikes in the Indian auto market. BMW will shortly announces the launch of new bikes in India. Andreas Schaff, President, BMW India, said, “Motarrads, our motorcycle company, is a core BMW group firm which sees a huge potential in India. We are very keen to enter India and an announcement will be made soon. We are studying the market right now.”

German giant luxury car maker, is presently selling 400cc to 1200cc bikes and it is possible that it will bring its 1200cc motorcycles which will be completely built units (CBUs). On the other hand, with prices ranging from Rs 10-15 lac, about 400-500 bikes are selling per year by the leading two-wheeler manufacturers including Yamaha, Suzuki, Harley Davidson and Honda. The demand of luxury bikes are increasing extremely well in the Indian auto market and seeing a growth of 40 percent annually.

BMW is ready with additional investments of Rs 70 crore. The company will increase its plant size from 20 acres to over 40 acres at Chennai and setting up a second assembly line by 2012. As per some auto websites reports, BMW Motorrad is expected to launch its flagship bike, Known as BMW K1300S. It is powered by a 4 stroke, liquid cooled, in line four cylinder, four valves per cylinder and two-overhead camshafts which can produce awesome 175 hp of top power at 9,250 rpm and churns out 140 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm with its 1293cc displacement.

The new BMW K1300S looks very sporty and classy bike to make it very stylish motorcycle. The new bike is incorporated with 6 speed transmission system and 151 mm, multi-disc oil bath clutch. The BMW K1300S is wrapped in three royal shades in the international market. The body colour options are black, light and dark shade, orange metallic and light grey metallic.
